Mysus persicae(Botanical)


The aphid is small to medium sized, 1.2-2.5 mm long and colour ranges from yellow, all shades of green, to pink, red and almost black. Adult wingless damaging females are oval-bodied, 1.2-2.1 mm in body length, of very variable colour; whitish green, pale yellow green, grey green, mid-green, dark green, pink or red. Immature stages are quite shiny, but adults are less so.


Among cultural control methods recommended are early sowing (e.g. of potatoes), weed management and the use of certified seeds, known to be virus-free (for example, seed potatoes. Chemical control; Force, Imidacloprid 70 WG, Force Plus, Dimethoate, Acetamiprid
